Meet the creators
Temma and Nate are the duo behind the Hot Chips series. They’ve always brought out the best in each other, pushing ideas further and laughing the whole way through. When they decided to make a children’s book together, they knew it would be something special. With Temma’s colourful art and Nate’s playful storytelling, Hot Chips was born.
Illustrator Temma Lee
Temma is a mum and artist who brings colour, warmth and a touch of magic to her work. Inspired by life with her son and their days by the beach, she creates art shaped by the everyday beauty of coastal life on Gubbi Gubbi Country in Australia.
The Hot Chips story began with her son and partner’s shared love of hot chips. When she couldn’t find matching “I love hot chips” shirts for them, she drew her own, and a little family joke turned into a magical kids book.

Author Nate Mico
Nate is a cat-daddy to Ollie, writer and big kid at heart who finds wonder in the everyday. His stories mix humour, heart and a dash of magic, inspired by the world around him and the childlike curiosity he never lost.
He is the author of the Amazon best-selling book The Changey-Sizey Lion, and whether he’s dreaming up talking lions, cheeky birds or golden chips, Nate’s work celebrates imagination, kindness and the joy of saying, “Universe, amaze me.”
